Enhanced hotspot is a killer feature for new Endian Release

As people are becoming increasingly reliant on the Internet, hotspots are emerging everywhere as not only a trend but as a necessity and smart business choice; internet cafes, hotels and resorts, airports and travel terminals, education institutes and even local Councils have jumped on board. The latest Endian Unified Threat Management (UTM) system to be released, version 2.4, has enhanced the features on the increasingly popular hotspot (wireless security) component, offering a more advanced and user friendly way to effectively manage and control hotspots in various environments.

The hotspot is an integrated feature in the Endian which allows for quick setup of a wired or wireless hotspot and gives clients complete and simple control over usage. Ideal for hotels, cafes, bars, clubs, schools, libraries and any public area, it provides an easy-to-use solution to give customers access to the Internet via wireless or ethernet connection and through any networkable mobile device.

Veritech Corporation CEO & Endian distributor Livio Mazzon believes that the hotspot continues to be the one feature that makes Endian stand apart from other UTM systems in the marketplace. ‘There are plenty of UTM systems on the market that offer the standard UTM features, but the Endian stands out thanks to the built-in hotspot feature which provides clients that extra level of flexibility’

‘The 2.4 version takes the hotspot component to a new level, with some great new features. The new SmartConnect system frees up the Café staff and gives flexible payment options for customers. This new release makes the hotspot a cutting edge feature of the Endian UTM product’ commented Mr Mazzon.

The Endian hotspot allows for wireless and wired connections from the one central device, which is an ideal situation for libraries or Internet cafes where there are a number of available desktop computers as well as many customers who prefer to bring their own device. It allows the hotspot owner to control access to the Internet from the one central location (the Endian).

Hotspot access can be provided to customers free of charge, or can be charged for as a pre-paid or post-paid service, which gives the hotspot owner a great range of choice of how they provide their hotspot service. For those business owners who want to charge for their hotspot access the ‘SmartConnect’ Endian hotspot has simplified the setup; rather than a time consuming process of having staff collect money for required usage and handing out passwords, it is now in the hands of the customer. Upon log in customers are prompted to pay for the access immediately with Paypal or a credit card, with their access credentials being sent to them via an SMS message. The Endian then controls the time they stay connected to the Internet and how much they download.

For businesses that have a multi outlet environment the Endian Hotspot Satellites allows for the ability to use one user base on hotspots in different physical locations. With this new feature business owners can control the user database, portal configuration and authentication centrally, while managing the connection at a local level. This is useful for cafes or libraries that have more than one location where they offer a hotspot for their customers.

Senior Consultant at Veritech Corporation, Philip van Veen believes that a device like the Endian now brings all businesses, no matter how small, into the realm of offering a hotspot to their customers. ‘A Hotspot can be a real drawcard for customers. The ability to be connected is a staple for today’s mobile society. By making it easy to connect, businesses will attract more customers and keep them onsite longer’ stated Mr van Veen.

The Endian hotspot is fully integrated with Endian UTM, making use of the other useful Endian features such as anti-phishing, anti-virus and content filtering. This means complete security for users against Internet threats, such as viruses, unauthorised connections, and access to illegal or unwanted content. Now with SmartConnect and Satellites, the management of the Endian Hotspot is simple enough for small business owners to handle themselves.

Philip van Veen goes on further to say hotspots are important for retail businesses and hence have escalated the Hotspot to become the popular feature of the Endian. ‘With Internet proving such a powerful tool these days it is critical for businesses to manage their users and ensure they are not abusing their access. UTMs now do an excellent job of controlling user access, but this tends to be targeted towards permanently connected Internet users. A hotspot solution like this combines the best-of-breed features of a secure UTM and a hotspot management system into one unit. Now hotspot environments like cafe's, libraries, time-share offices, schools and waiting areas can provide the same benefits to mobile or itinerant users’ stated Mr van Veen.

Businesses interested in setting up a hotspot using this robust all in one device are encouraged to sample the Endian UTM system by using the online demonstration at www.veritechcorp.com.au and can purchase the product today through their preferred IT consultant or reseller.
